Learning Programmes
Accredited Courses
CS Plus will improve social and economic mobility through:
- The delivery of high quality accredited literacy, numeracy and language (ESOL) programmes from pre-entry to level 2. This will provide a pathway back into learning and then progression, into further and higher education.
- Employability programmes accredited at entry 3 to level 2 and Matrix accredited information, advice and guidance (IAG) to support adults into sustained employment.
We also deliver informal learning in a range of areas such as sewing and design, parenting classes, dress making. We actively involve learners to develop our informal learning curriculum so we are always open to your suggestions.
** Crèche facilities are annually reviewed subject to funding
ESOL/Citizenship
Home Office research suggests that English language skills are associated with a 20% increase in the likelihood of employment and also a greater potential for earning. English language itself is probably the single most important element in enabling diverse communities to participate.
Community Support Plus in partnership with Manchester First has designed a range of new services to enable new migrants to speak English, participate in everyday life, obtain citizenship and enter employment, achieved through:
- An accredited ESOL/Citizenship programme contextualised to improve community cohesion and social integration, speaking and listening, reading and writing.
- Social and cultural community engagement events and volunteering opportunities supporting migrants to become more involved in their local and wider communities. Events will include St Patricks Day, St Georges Day, Dawali, Vaisakhi, (Baisakhi), Chand Raat, et al. **
- Supporting individuals to achieve employment goals and supporting their families with information advice and guidance, improving jobsearch ability and providing work placements.
**We don’t have a definitive list. If you want to celebrate a cultural event that will invite and engage other communities and faiths then we would be delighted to hear from you and host your event free at the Waterloo Centre (subject to availability). Call Gurnam Singh to discuss.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is the industry's largest scheme. CSCS cards list the holder’s qualifications and are valid for either three or five years. It also shows they have health and safety awareness as all cardholders have to pass the appropriate CITB-Construction Skills Health and Safety Test.
Most contractors now demand proof of competence, before allowing workers onto their sites, which is provided by a CSCS card. Not having a CSCS card may affect your ability to work on certain sites. For more information visit the CSCS website.
At Community Support Plus is a registered centre so you can take the CITB-Construction Skills Health and Safety Test. We also have additional study material (paper based and online) which contains all of the multiple-choice questions and answers for the Construction Skills Health & Safety Tests. Prepare for any of the 13 tests including the Operatives and Supervisors as well as the Specialist and HVACR tests.
