This is rare and ineligibility is usually linked to ESOL (English as a Second Language) courses. With the withdrawal of the current ESOL funding programme to new learners and other funding cuts planned for 2010/2011, CS Plus is concerned that this may increase. However regardless CS Plus is committed to supporting as many people into achieving their learning goals and successfully integrate into the UK.
We hold ESOL classes for fee paying students from pre-entry (basic beginners) to level 2 Literacy. In 2010/11 the fees were £2.08 per hour (Pre Entry to Entry 3) and £3.08 per hour (Level 1 to 2). These fees are heavily subsidised by the organisations income generation in our other activities therefore spaces are limited with strict attendance requirements. Classes are 6 hours a week thus on average learners pay £50 a month in instalments.
All courses are accredited and embedded with citizenship to support naturalisation applications. Learners will progress via internal tests (pre-entry) and external examinations (Entry 1 to Level 2). You will be taught and examined on Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening.
If you are proceed with an ESOL class as a fee payer then payment for the first month will be taken in advance of the lessons. We have tried to minimise costs and understand that for some learners this will be difficult. If you are unable to pay the £50 in advance for the first month, a payment plan may be worked out, please communicate this to us.
From time to time we have new funding available which may mean a previously fee paying student may become eligible (again subject to criteria). We will contact you and once registered on the programme your fees will stop.
